Jan 3, 2018 | Dental Tips

Due to the nature of the student lifestyle and the stress, responsibilities and hard work associated with it, it can often be difficult to take complete care of your teeth and gums. Students are generally so involved in completing their assignments and studying for their exams, that they forget about their health and well-being, in such instances, dental health is no exception.

But this can lead to serious dental issues like plaque and tartar buildup, gum infections, cavities and even more serious problems like tooth decay and tooth loss.

Below are some helpful tips to keep your teeth and gums healthy and your breath fresh, without spending a lot of time.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking water regularly is an effective way to wash away the bacteria that can lead to issues like bad breath and tooth decay. Staying hydrates is also good for your overall health, so try to ensure you drink plenty of water every day. There are many apps that remind you to drink water from time to time, so if you forget to drink water, then try installing one such app.

2. Eat Healthy Snacks

While students generally donโ€™t eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, but they should try to eat as healthy as possible. Also, if you can include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet then you should. Moreover, when snacking, try to eat foods like cheese sticks, dried fruits, yoghurt, nuts and dark chocolate, as they are all good for your dental health.

3. Use a Nice Toothbrush/Brush and Loss Regularly

Toothbrushes with soft bristles are recommended by Lambton Shores dentists to effectively brush the teeth and reach complicated areas of your mouth. Change your toothbrush every two-three months or whenever you feel the condition of the brush is very poor and bristles are damaged and unable to give a proper clean. Brush your teeth twice daily for two minutes each time, and also floss regularly. You can also use mouthwash. Consult a dentist in Lambton Shores to choose the best products for mouth and dental hygiene.
